[New rendering of 45 L Street in South Boston]
It looks like Southie is going to get a new kid on the block, trading places with an old auto shop. Developer Peter Leoutsakos has filed 45 L Street with the BRA.
Thomas Grillo at the Business Journal has the latest on the $11 million mixed-use development, which is intended to have 30 2-bedroom units and 1,000 s.f of retail space. The project promises the usual amenities for residents, such as a fitness center and storage space, but it will also include a meeting room for the neighborhood.
Can the area accommodate more high-priced living? Likely. Condo median prices in the area have increased by 14 percent over the last year, to $484,000. And the BRA thinks so, having approved 14 residential projects in Southie since 2012.
More to come.
