Hyde Square's Old Norbert School Building Returns as Lofts

Tenants are moving in this weekend to the new Off Centre Lofts on the old Blessed Sacrament campus off Hyde Square in Jamaica Plain (yet another Boston residential spread carved from an old school property). Above is what the building—the former Norbert School, vacant since last decade—looked like before the conversion to 21 studio and 1-BR apartments. The look is much different now, of course, with capacious lofts flooded with natural light from ginormous windows. How much per pad, you ask? Studios at the Off Centre Lofts are asking $2,000 to $2,200 and range from 500 to 600 square feet; 1-BRs are asking $1,900 to $2,200 and range from 585 square feet to 700. Always nice to see some new inventory in Boston's shallow housing pool, whatever the prices.
