Bookish Somerville Loft Goes for Way Over Its Asking

New, 3 comments

Condos that go for more than their asking prices—often a lot freakin' more—is a bona fide trend in the Greater Boston market. So this sale in the Cambridge-Somerville borderlands shouldn't surprise us too much. The airy, book-shelf-lined Unit E at 11 Village Street dropped on the market on June 12 for $779,000. It closed July 31 for $850,000. That's full $71,000 over the asking price; and an over-ask that surely came rather quickly given the barely six weeks between listing and closing. Madness.
