Bonkers South End Deck Sells for Under Original Asking

New, 5 comments

When Unit SKY702 (a.k.a. the penthouse-above-the-penthouse at the Modern) dropped on the sales market in May, all we noticed was the 700-square-foot deck. It came with a storage shed, a heat lamp, natural gas piped in for grilling, and a built-in automated irrigation system so as to save an owner precious time plant-watering. The whole shebang, including the 863-square-foot 1-BR, 1.5-BA off said deck, was originally asking $879,000. That price descended all the way to $799,000 this summer. Now, as of late last week, a deal for this aerie over the ever-coveted South End has closed. Unit SKY702 finally traded for $825,000. And! It appears that tag includes $26,000 for deeded garage parking. The seller had been willing to part with the penthouse for $799K sans parking. But we all know how valuable parking can be in Boston.
