Newton's Most Expensive Mansion Comes with Laundromat

The 9,977-square-foot mansion on nearly 2 acres at 19 Dartmouth Street in Newton is impressive enough: Said square-footage and meticulously maintained grounds; seven bedrooms and nine bathrooms (including seven full ones); formal entertaining rooms; a foyer with 11-foot ceilings; a three-car carriage house; a gym; and an elevator to all three floors. Then there's this nugget in the four-month-old Historic Homes listing: the laundry room on the second floor comes with two sets of washer/dryer, a veritable laundromat for the household. Nineteen Dartmouth is asking a full $6,950,000. That places it well ahead of the next-priciest in Newton: 134 Chestnut Hill Road, which wants $6.4M. Stay tuned.
