This fall Chicago-based developer Oxford Capital Group will open the Godfrey Hotel at 505 Washington Street in Downtown Crossing, the result of a gut-rehab of the old Armory and Blake buildings. The inn joins other buzzed-about developments in the neighborhood and along the same drag, in fact: the sold-out Millennium Place condo and the under-construction Millennium Tower, also a condo (a really expensive condo). The Godfrey, then, might reap some of the whirlwind of a Downtown Crossing changing (finally!) from 9-to-5 to 24-7 thanks to these residential clusters.
The Godfrey will include 242 rooms in a hotel with a lobby bar; a 24-hour fitness center; complimentary Wi-Fi (not as common as you think!); and what a release from the developer describes as "state-of-the-art-digital technology." There's also talk of a "chef-driven" restaurant and coffee house. No word, yet, on room rates. Stay tuned.
