Boston's First Big Close of 2015 Is at the South End's Royal

New, 1 comment

The Royal at 407 Shawmut Avenue in the South End was one of the more anticipated condo debuts of 2014. Carved from an old Salvation Army building—as if to place a big, juicy exclamation point at the end of the neighborhood's gentrification—the development offered 12 units starting originally at $811 a square foot (what we imagine is a rather busy price point in Boston nowadays). One such unit was No. 2, a 2-BR, 2.5-BA spread asking $1,250,000; or roughly $733 a foot. It closed early on Monday. The final amount? The exact asking of $1.25M.
