The Boston Redevelopment Authority late last week signed off on a major $25,000,000 renovation of the hulking, three-building Center Plaza office complex overlooking Government Center in the city's downtown. What's in store for the more than 710,000-square-foot, crescent-shaped behemoth?
Owner Shorenstein Properties and architect CBT Architects plan to add lobbies and passageways between all three buildings as well as plunk atop the whole thing a 21,000-square-foot penthouse for more office space and a rooftop garden (see the top rendering). Some 9,400 square feet of ground-floor and mezzanine-level retail and restaurant space are also expected as are improvements such as a publicly accessible elevator and better lighting. Work is slated to start this year.
