The Victorian townhouse at 196 West Springfield Street in the always-enviable South End kinda has it all: 11 rooms; 4,188 square feet; two parking spaces included; lots of 19th-century details and detailing; the potential for a genuine library; even an elevator connecting all four floors. And yet. The abode has had a tough go of it since dropping in early June. One-ninety-six West Springfield was originally listed for $3,600,000. The price descended sharply, to $3,350,000, in early August; and that is where it has rested through the summer and the early fall. We'll see what happens.
