Porter Square's Hathaway Lofts More Than Halfway There

One of the biggest residential developments under way in housing-starved Cambridge is more than 60 percent complete, according to developers. Hathaway Lofts at 15 Richdale Avenue off Porter Square is a wholesale conversion of a similarly named bakery building dating from 1910. Developers plan to add 46 loft-style apartments averaging 1,200 square feet each and coming with flourishes such as in-unit washer-dryers and 10- to 15-foot ceilings as well as industrial lighting. Nearly half of the units will have outdoor space via a penthouse addition to the otherwise preserved building. No word yet on the rents, but the renderings you see are the very latest ones available. Hathaway Lofts is slated for spring 2016 occupancy. Stay tuned.
