It was just over two months ago that the seven-room, 2,774-square-foot penthouse duplex at 29 Marlborough Street in eastern Back Bay hit the sales market for a cool $5,500,000. The 4-BR, 2.5-BA promised elevator service to both levels (regardless of the stairs in between) and two tandem parking spaces as well as deeded storage. The location alone assured Unit 6 at 29 Marlborough of a relatively quick sale. Which is exactly what happened: A deal for the duplex closed Monday.
Despite everything going for it, Unit 6 traded for a full quarter-mill off its asking, closing at $5,250,000. That still translates into nearly $1,900 a square foot. Nothing to sneeze at. Still...
