The 2-BR, 1-BA penthouse at 71 Farragut Road on the Southie seafront had one thing really going for it when it hit the sales market in late September: a living room that a sky-scratching turret absolutely dominated. The 1,024-square-footer also offered a private deck with water views, 10-foot ceilings and storage space. Unit 5 at 71 Farragut was asking $599,000. It came down $39K in October and then a lot more for a closing just this Sunday. In the end the penthouse and its turret went for $540,000. Surprising, no?
