Apartments or Condos? Giant Boston Landing Mulls Options

New, 8 comments

Parts of the 15-acre Boston Landing development in Brighton have been rolling out since the summer, not least of which the 250,000-square-foot HQ of sneaker concern New Balance, which is underwriting the whole shebang. The development will also include a practice rink for the Bruins and a 175-room boutique hotel. We've known, too, since 2014 that Boston Landing will have housing as well.

It's anyone's guess what that housing component will be. New Balance's development arm and HYM Investment are expected to formally unveil the housing plans for Boston Landing today. Per Donna Goodison at the Herald, those plans are due to include approximately 295 units covering 290,000 square feet in four floors at 125 Guest Street. Sixteen of those 295 units would be separate from the rest, though both residential portions would be above street-level retail. There will be 149 parking spaces for the residences as well and 16,000 square feet of retail total, not to mention private open space.

Now! The one detail not yet known is whether these units will be apartments or condos, or some combination of the two. The developers are apparently reading the economic tea leaves and have yet to decide. Stay tuned. New condos have done quite well in Brighton lately, though. We're just sayin'.
