This Project Is Supposed to Change Everything in Quincy

New, 1 comment

The clue in our latest Real Estate Jeopardy was: This 169-unit project is the first phase of a larger downtown Quincy development meant to make the area more appealing to young professionals.

The answer is: What is West of Chestnut? The project, which is but the first phase of a much larger one, will target the 35-and-under crowd, trying to draw them out of their clusters in Cambridge, Somerville and Boston, potentially changing not only the physical makeup of downtown Quincy but its overall vibe as well. Largely because of that, West of Chestnut is one of the biggest development projects we're watching in 2015. We thought you were, too: Not many got the correct answer. Which, we guess, shows the odds developer Gate Residential faces. Stay tuned.
