HUB-WIDE—If you're a city and the International Olympic Committee comes calling, grab your pocketbook and hold on. So says a new polemic attacking the supposed benefits of hosting the Games. For instance: "[O]ver the past few decades, the IOC, in particular, has appropriated an ever-greater share of the proceeds for itself: the most recent public data reveal that it now pockets more than 70 percent of Olympic television revenue, compared with less than 4 percent between 1960 and 1980 ...
