There are many vantage points for beholding the world's premier running event, the Boston Marathon. Never mind those, check out these. The private roof decks forthwith offer some of the plushest, lushest spots for being near the action, but well above it also. Each is either along the marathon's wending route to Copley Place or close by. We start with perhaps the most gorgeous private roof deck in all of Boston or at least the largest, certainly: the 3,500-square-foot aerie attached to an identically sized penthouse at the Albert A. Pope Building at 221 Columbus Avenue. The whole shebang traded in late February for $6,000,000, so start making some calls.

The private roof deck of Unit 4 at the Burrage Mansion at 314 Commonwealth Avenue includes a hot tub. The 5,865-square-foot penthouse is still on the market (it first dropped in June 2014) for $10,700,000.

Finally, we come to the approximately 2,400-square-foot roof deck off Penthouse 502 at 9-17 Harcourt Street. The entire spread, which includes 1,549 square feet of interior space, hit the market earlier this month for $2,395,000 and is already under agreement. Again, work the phones. The race ain't over yet.
