SOUTH BOSTON—The Boston Redevelopment Authority gave a preliminary green light to the 26-unit project last month. Now, though, community opposition may scuttle it or may peter out amid the delay: "Dozens of angry South Boston residents left a hearing yesterday shouting, 'Dirty politics!' after the Zoning Board of Appeal granted a postponement to the architect of a $7.35 million plan to convert the former Gate of Heaven School into condominiums." [Herald]
WEST ROXBURY—There's a public meeting Thursday evening re: the proposed 69-room King David Hotel, the latest inn pitched for a Boston in the midst of a hotel-building boom. [BRA]

JAMAICA PLAIN—Among other features, the changes will create a 700-square-foot, glass-enclosed reading room: "After over a decade of waiting, the Jamaica Plain Branch Library will undergo its first major renovation in 50 years beginning Aug. 1. But while welcomed locally, the work will require an 18- to 24-month closure." [Gazette]
