The Merc at Moody & Main is downtown Waltham's first new apartment complex in ages. The conversion of the old Mercantile Building (hence the name) is set to have 269 apartments in three five-story buildings with 27,595 square feet of retail space. There will also be a 300-car garage as well as 92 surface parking spots. Construction started in late 2014, and the leasing office is now open at One Moody Street, ready to sign up tenants for the first 87 apartments, which will be move-in ready this August.
The Merc at Moody & Main, like just about every other new apartment complex in Greater Boston, is swinging for the young-hip fences. Amenities will include a billiards room; a dog-washing site; a place to plug in electric cars; a fitness center with yoga and spin spaces; and on-site Zipcars. And there's also quite a bit of talk about the complex's proximity to commuter rail and other public transit. Studios will start at $2,095 a month; 1-BRs at $2,495; and 2-BRs at $2,895. Stay tuned.
