Peek Inside a Waterworks TH That Just Traded for $3.1M

The Waterworks complex in Chestnut Hill, along the Brookline-Boston borderlands, is no stranger to gorgeousness nor to big-time listings. Future Hall-of-Famer David Ortiz put his five-flat-screened penthouse there up for sale just this past February for $3,200,000. Now comes word of a closing at a townhouse-style unit at 2446 Beacon Street. The 10-room, 6,419-square-foot spread includes a 2,000-square-foot upper level comprised solely of the master suite (with 20-foot ceilings, mind you) and a marble vestibule. There are also two terraces and two garaged parking spaces as well as access to the Waterworks' concierge services. Nice, eh? The 4-BR, 5.5-BA house with a Romanesque Revival exterior dropped on the sales market in early April for $3,475,000. It traded, however, for an even $3,100,000—or $375K off the asking. Theories? The condo fee was $2,406. Was that it?
