Big Grand Opening for East Cambridge's Twenty|20 NorthPoint

It's one of the biggest apartment openings in Greater Boston this year and it's officially happening this morning. Developer HYM Investment is hosting a grand opening for Twenty|20 NorthPoint in the East Cambridge area of similar name that has seen rapid development over the last few years.

Twenty|20 NorthPoint stretches to 20 stories and includes 355 apartments, 41 of which are designated affordable, as well as 8,600 square feet of retail and 184 parking spaces. The remaining 314 market-rate units range from studios starting at $2,615; 1-BRs starting at $2,660; 2-BRs starting at $4,050; and 3-BRs starting at $6,950. The tower includes amenities such as a bike garage called Spokes and an indoor basketball half-court called Hoops. You get the idea. It's also close to the Orange and Green lines.

Also to be unveiled today is the Brian P. Murphy Memorial Staircase within the NorthPoint development itself. It is named for an assistant city manager and lawmaker in Cambridge, who died in February, and is meant to better connect Charlestown and Cambridge as well as the two T lines.
