The conversion of the old Home for Little Wanderers at 161 South Huntington Avenue in Jamaica Plain has been on the books since at least early 2012, when developer Boston Residential Group bought the property. Concerns that the subsequently planned 196 apartments would upend the area's delicate affordability balance appeared to stall the project, dubbed Olmsted Place, but in March of this year we got our first sneak peek at the units via renderings. Olmsted Place's apartments will range from 530-square-feet studios to 3-BR, 2-BA units of 1,300 square feet. As for rents, studios start at $2,600 and everything else goes from there. The complex, which just commenced leasing, will also feature amenities such as a gym, a coffee lounge and free WiFi in the common areas (the website also talks up the project's proximity to spots such as Whole Foods). Worth it? Too much? Too little? Tell us.
