Suffolk University sold its adjoining Archer and Donahue buildings off Ashburton Place in Beacon Hill for a total of $43.5 million after putting them on the market in February.
The school will remain as a tenant in both properties under the terms of the deal, ensuring that town and gown continue to mix despite perceptions among some Beacon Hill residents that the students are a disruptive lot (though it's not entirely clear if those perceptions are grounded in reality... but you know the old saying about perception and reality). The sale also allows Suffolk to make "important campus improvements" and to square its move to a new academic building at nearby 20 Somerset Street.
