State officials are expected to issue a decision before end of business Friday on whether Vegas mogul Steve Wynn gets a necessary environmental stamp-of-approval to build his ginormous casino-resort in Everett just over the border from Boston's Charlestown.
The odds are certainly in Wynn's favor. MassDOT earlier this week dropped its own environmental-impact concerns and noted approvingly Wynn's commitment to subsidizing Orange Line operations (though major concerns still remain re: the effects the resort will have on traffic, particularly in nearby Sullivan Square). If today's approval comes through, there is little beyond lawsuits stopping the developer from moving forward. Place your bets.
