Assembly Square Project Targets Cambridge, Boston Refugees

New, 14 comments

There are few more happening areas than Somerville's Assembly Square, what with its dozens of stores, including outlets, and its hundreds of homes and its newish Orange Line stop. Now an adjoining landowner wants to add to the boom.

The Globe's Tim Logan has the goods on Somerville Office Associates' plans for its 9-acre parcel: "... condos, a hotel, and two office or lab buildings of about 500,000 square feet each, along with ground-floor retail spaces — about 1.2 million square feet of construction in all." Plans are still "in flux" but the office space would be targeted toward companies looking to bail on pricier digs in Cambridge and Boston. Bring it.
