The 1.2-acre estate at 75 Sargent Road in Brookline has been on and off the market through Hammond Real Estate since early May 2014, when it was listed for $5,650,000. The spread includes more than 6,000 square feet of Tudor-style living space, including six bedrooms and four and a half bathrooms as well as three fireplaces and two bluestone patios; a private pond; bones in the 1860s; and updates in the Jazz Age. When it originally appeared on the market last year, the listing touted the estate's possession of "one of the largest Japanese Maple trees in North America," though that reference seems to have disappeared. Maple or not, there is finally a deal pending for 75 Sargent. The last asking price was $5,250,000—or a full $400K off the original. We'll see what happens with the close.
