The Boston Public Market on Tuesday will unveil its second annual "Official Pumpkin of Boston"—a 1,082-pound squash grown in Greenfield, Mass.
The pumpkin, which is 62 pounds heavier than last year’s champ (dubbed "Gourdo" by market patrons), is possible through a donation from vendor Red Apple Farm and farmers Lou and Sue Chadwick (that’s Sue above with the pumpkin).
An 800-pound gourd will keep the new arrival company throughout the season, and both will be the centerpieces at the market’s inaugural Harvest Party on Oct. 20, which highlights New England food and drink.
