Asking prices averaged more than $1,000 a square foot in Beacon Hill, Back Bay, the waterfront, and the South End at the close of October, according to an analysis of market-rate listings from real estate research site NeighborhoodX.
And in Beacon Hill and Back Bay, the most expensive listings stretched past a Manhattan-like $2,600 a square foot.
Meanwhile, in each of several neighborhoods—including Eastie, Roslindale, and Hyde Park—the average asking price was under $400 a square foot. In those neighborhoods, too, the priciest listings did not run to more than $700 a foot.
