The three-floor, colonial-style building at 1445 River Street in Boston’s Hyde Park recently housed a funeral home. It’s been on and off the market since late 2015 as a development opportunity—or as a single-family with some character.
The 3,908-square-foot house, which includes one full bathroom and the potential for five bedrooms, originally asked $677,700.
Its price has come down now to $589,000.
Incidentally, that sum makes 1445 River Street one of the 10 most expensive market-rate houses in Hyde Park right now, according to real estate research site NeighborhoodX. See chart below.
Also, if a funeral home conversion seems a bit odd, such a makeover would not be all that unique for the region: The swanky condos of 197 Union Square in Somerville were carved from the site of an old mortuary.
