Brookline mansion asking more than twice as much as 10 years ago

Gut-renovation in between

The 6,479-square-foot, 12-room, eight-fireplace(!) mansion at 105 Rockwood Street on nearly 2 acres in Brookline, just beyond Boston, last sold in March 2006 for $2,100,000 (or about $2.5M in today’s dollars).

The stucco spread, which includes seven bedrooms and a finished basement, is now on the market for $4,395,000.

We should note that the property underwent a gut-renovation between 2006 and 2008, leaving it in its present, more pristine state. So perhaps the much higher tag is justified. Stay tuned.
