Boston College Details Big Chestnut Hill Developments

Indoor football field included

Boston College announced plans for a $200 million athletic-facilities overhaul this week. Included in the unveiling was a rendering (above) of the new indoor practice field for the school's football team. The indoor field would be adjacent to uber-significant Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hill, and allow the squad to practice in particularly inclement weather.

The plans also call for a 240,000-square-foot recreational center for the student body at large. That complex would replace the antiquated Flynn Rec Center. And! BC wants to build a stadium for baseball and softball, too, as well as intramural fields.

The city has already signed off the rec-center portion of the plans, which come amid a general collegiate building boom in Boston. Construction on the rec center/indoor field could start this summer.
