In September 2015, Unit 2 at 117 Beacon Street in Back Bay hit the sales market through Diane Keliher for a cool $8,595,000. Recall that developer Beacon Mainsail bought the five-story brownstone in late 2014 for $4,750,000 from a member of a family that had lived there for more than nine decades.
The developer soon obtained the necessary O.K.'s to convert the single-family into a couple of condos. Unit 2 is the bigger of the pair. The 5,035-square-foot triplex penthouse will, when it's finished, offer four bedrooms and four and a half bathrooms as well as direct elevator access, a private roof deck, and garage parking for at least two.
Unit 2 is now under contract at that original $8.595M asking price. According to a source, the closing will be for less than that amount but still rather sizable. That closing is expected at the end of August. Stay tuned.
