Live Inside the Dome of an Old Newton Church

Triplex condo has a serious Gaudi vibe going on

Unit 5 at 515 Centre Street in Newton's Newton Corner is a 2,654-square-foot townhouse-style condo carved about 15 years ago from a shuttered Episcopal Methodist church. As we known well, such conversions make for some spectacular interiors and this 3-BR, 3.5-BA does not disappoint.

It stretches three floors, with the the top one resting inside the church's old dome. From that floor, too, a spiral staircase leads to a loft (fourth floor?). The white beams on these levels reminded the Herald's Adam Smith of "those inside Antoni Gaudi’s La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona — only on a much smaller scale."

Also, a cruciform window floods the first and second levels with light, the kitchen and dining area in particular; and, if an owner needs even more sunshine, there's a 66-foot-long private deck. Unit 5 is asking $1,299,000 through Coldwell Banker.
