We've banged on and on about the allure of fixer-uppers in Boston's largest neighborhood, Dorchester, the sorts of houses with solidly charming bones that need only a little TLC (and a beefy checkbook) to make them really shine again.
The 106-year-old Colonial at 12 Centervale Park in Dorchester's Melville Park enclave is an example of how good the finished product can look. The 2,480-square-foot, 13-room house sold in July 2014 for $525,000 and was seriously renovated, including the addition of a sauna (of course).
The updated house then hit the market in early November 2015 through William Raveis for $699,000. The listing disappeared the following month, and a deal for 12 Centervale just closed for $695,000.
