Average for one a lot cheaper than the other

The average asking price for market-rate Beacon Hill townhouses was $1,240 square feet by mid-May, according to real estate research site NeighborhoodX. That was cheaper than the $1,423 average for market-rate condos in the well-trod neighborhood in April.

Similarly, condo askings tended to roam higher than those for townhouses. For townhouses, the range was $854 a square foot to $1,726 a foot (see chart below). For condos, it was $678 a square foot to $2,994 a foot.
