West Cambridge's fast-growing Alewife area is getting one of those Marriott-branded AC Hotels late this summer or early this fall. Per Marc Levy at Cambridge Day, work is already underway at 10 Acorn Park Drive, the former site of consultancy Arthur D. Little now known as Discovery Park.
The new inn will have 150 rooms and will target the hipper business traveler. From the website for what's being somewhat incongruously called AC Hotel Boston Cambridge: "The innovative lobby, tapas-style lounge, multi-media and meeting space that can accommodate groups of five to 100 people are tailor-made for modern business travelers looking for a new way to experiencing and feel the city."
Interestingly enough, this AC Hotel in the farther reaches of Cambridge will open well before another one in the Ink Block mega-complex in Boston’s busy, busy South End. Doubly interesting, an existing AC Hotel in Medford predates both. Because when one thinks hip...
