About a month ago, we ran down the vitals on the newly listed 11-room, 4,689-square-foot Victorian at 57 Russell Avenue in not-so-sleepy Watertown. The property had been featured on This Old House shortly after it last traded in 1998, and for good reason: Back then, according to the then-new owners, 57 Russell was a "wreck ... this really oddly fixed together Victorian."
When the owners and the legendary television show got done with it, however, the "wreck" was reborn as veritable charm factory, with four working fireplaces, a chef’s kitchen, a walkout deck, and stained glass.
The owners, a couple decamping to Cambridge, had listed 57 Russell through Compass for $1,500,000. They got that full amount—and in less than three weeks after hitting the market.
