Medford’s Locust Street to Get Swarm of Apartments

New, 1 comment

Nearly 500 units on site of shuttered Shaw’s supermarket

A three-building residential complex will fill the old Shaw’s supermarket site at 61 Locust Street near the Mystic riverfront in Medford. The city just signed off on developer Equity One’s plans, which include 490 apartments, 12,000 square feet of amenity space, and 4,000 square feet of additional space for as-yet-unspecified uses.

It is one of the biggest new developments in Medford in a long time, and sure to become a Plan B for tenants priced out of Somerville and other nearby burgs.

The apartments will be a mix of studios, 1-BRs, 2-BRs, and 3-BRs running from 440 to 1,300 square feet. The buildings will range from four to six stories, and there will be 781 parking spaces, including an astounding 735 for tenants.
