The average asking price for a Dorchester home was $254 a square foot at the start of July, according to an analysis from real estate research site NeighborhoodX. The analysis looked at current market-rate listings and excluded properties in foreclosure or those marketed as development sites.
A range of listing prices produced the average—from $85 a foot for a 6-BR house in the Codman Square area to $555 for a 2-BR condo in Clam Point (pictured at top). Such breadth is probably to be expected with Boston’s largest neighborhood.
