What is the worst/most inaccurate pop-cultural depiction of the Boston area?

New, 1 comment

Sound off

Screenwriters, actors, directors, novelists, playwrights, producers, etc. have long been enamored of the Boston area as a backdrop for their creative works. Some of these works nail the nuances and vagaries of the region, particularly those of individual neighborhoods and their residents.

Others do not.

We want to hear about these in our latest Friday Open Thread. Is it a particularly clumsily done movie chock-a-block with cliches? A TV show obviously created by someone who refers to Boston as Beantown? A book that luxuriates in depictions that ceased being accurate a generation ago?

Or is it just the overdone accents and the oversize Celtics jerseys that annoy you?

Sound off.
