Chestnut Hill colonial dating from 1880s redeveloped into cleanly modern 6-BR

It includes a finished lower level and a price tag of $3.6M-plus

The bones of the colonial at 355 Hammond Street on the Newton side of Chestnut Hill date from the 1880s. Local firm Urbaness LLC recently finished redeveloping the house, however. Its work, in conjunction with Boston-based designer EMBARC Studio, left behind a cleanly spacious 6-BR, 4.5-BA spread.

The modern colonial (why not?) is currently on the market through Hammond’s Stacey Steck for a cool $3,649,000. It last sold, pre-renovation, in April 2015 for $1,650,000.

The 6,436-square-foot redo includes touches such as skylights on the multi-purpose top floor and a finished lower level with a wine cellar.
