The sale of the 13,000-square-foot penthouse on the 60th floor of the new Millennium Tower in Downtown Crossing has closed for $35,000,000. That is the most ever paid for a private home in Boston (and we’re pretty sure New England, for that matter).
The buyer, as expected, was John Grayken, a private equity billionaire originally from Cohasset who may or may not use the terraced palace 625 feet above ground as a pied-a-terre. (Or maybe he’ll rent it out.)
The penthouse had been asking $37,500,000, meaning Grayken’s purchase represents a $2.5M price-chop. But whose quibbling?
