Dorchester's 60 Ocean Street washes onto the sales market for $1.75M

Ashmont Hill estate includes tricked-out carriage house

The gorgeous Shingle-style pile that is Dorchester’s 60 Ocean Street last traded way back in October 2002 for $1,149,000—making it one of the most expensive home sales ever in Boston’s biggest neighborhood, even to this day.

The spread is back on the market as of Wednesday for $1,750,000, which means 60 Ocean could set another residential sales record for Dot (though it’s difficult to gauge the actual sum to beat). The contender in question includes at least nine bedrooms spread over a main house and a converted carriage house out back.

All totaled, there are 5,675 square feet, with the main house encompassing more than 4,300 of those. Signs of 60 Ocean’s 1890s roots run throughout both properties, starting with the main house's grand entry foyer and its staircase. The estate (why not?) covers a half-acre at the top of Ashmont Hill.

Re/Max Destiny has the listing. Stay tuned.
