Malden’s Edgeworth one of the nation’s hottest neighborhoods: report

Object of so many searches

This 6-BR house in Edgeworth is asking $749,000.

File this one under who would’ve thought: Malden’s Edgeworth neighborhood is one of the 10 hottest in the nation in terms of desirability, according to real estate research site Redfin. In fact, Edgeworth is No. 6 on Redfin’s list.

How was that list compiled? Here’s the site:

The Hottest Neighborhoods of 2017 are calculated by measuring which areas had the highest increase in total page views and favorites on Redfin's website and apps over the course of the second half of 2016. Those neighborhoods that experienced the most growth in these metrics are projected to show increased transactions and prices in 2017 – and our predictive model in years past has been successful.

Basically, the reason that the Malden enclave bounded by Fellsway, Medford Street, Pearl Street, and Pleasant Street drew so many searches is that Redfin users at least consider it a solid Plan B for the likes of Boston proper and Cambridge—and even increasingly expensive Somerville.

Other area neighborhoods that Redfin thinks will be rather scorching this year are downtown Everett and Malden’s Maplewood. You’ve been warned.
