Barry Sternlicht, founder and chairman of investment fund Starwood Capital, said during a recent Bloomberg Television interview that Boston had a “pretty good shot” at landing Amazon’s second headquarters.
“Boston has a pretty good shot at that, given that it’s far away, and the technology and infrastructure and the educational base—and just the zeitgeist of the city,” Sternlicht said.
It’s important to note that Sternlicht knows Amazon’s corporate needs: His company recently leased six floors of office space to Amazon in the e-commerce giant’s hometown of Seattle.
For what it’s worth, Sternlicht also said that Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina, and Atlanta have decent chances of winning the HQ.
Amazon earlier this month received 238 bids from 54 North American locations, including several in Massachusetts. Stay tuned.
