The operator of South Boston’s Bell’s Market wants to build a five-story apartment building atop his business and other businesses along 236-256 Dorchester Street in the neighborhood’s Telegraph Hill area.
The building would include 7,835 square feet of ground-floor space for George Khoury’s Bell’s Market and for a new diner or cafe possibly.
All but five of the development’s 32 apartments would be market-rate, and eight “modestly sized” roof decks and 23 underground parking spaces would be part of the project as well, per the Herald’s Donna Goodison.
Khoury needs a zoning change for the development among other requisites. Otherwise, he hopes to start construction in the summer of 2018 and wrap things before the end of 2019. Stay tuned.
