If Amazon does plunk its second headquarters in Boston, then the e-commerce giant is likely to do so at the old Suffolk Downs racetrack in the East Boston-Revere borderlands.
And, if Amazon workers decide to look in the immediate vicinity for condos, here’s the sort of situation they would face: Condos average $588 a square foot in East Boston, from a range of $313 to $889 a foot, and $320 in Revere, from a range of $237 to $514 a square foot, according to an analysis from real estate research site NeighborhoodX.
The site analyzed market-rate units in the Boston neighborhood and the independent city.
“The average price for condos in East Boston is almost twice that for Revere," NeighborhoodX research director Constantine Valhouli said via email.
"In addition, while the bottom end of both price ranges is under $315 per square foot, the upper end of Eastie is considerably higher than Revere, signaling that people are open to paying more for the lifestyle, experience, neighborhood, and commute of one place over the other."
