Boston rent comparisons: What $5,000 a month gets you right now

New, 1 comment

Including in Southie, Brighton, Back Bay

The busiest time of the leasing year is nearly upon us, so we’re looking at different price points in different markets.

Up now: $5,000 a month in Boston.

Predictably perhaps, the sum commands quite a bit of space—two bedrooms at least, for instance—but parking might still be extra.

Let’s dive deeper, starting in Southie.

↑ Unit 303 in 401 West First Street on South Boston’s west side runs to 1,600 square feet and includes two bedrooms and two bathrooms. One garaged parking space is included and there’s laundry in-unit. Yours for $5,000/month even.

↑ Unit 801 at 4 Charlesgate East in western Back Bay is another 2-BR, 2-BA. It runs to 1,003 square feet and features a private roof-top deck. There’s also laundry in-unit, though no parking. It wants $4,950/month.

↑ At 53 Union Park in the South End’s (where else?) Union Park area, Unit 2 is asking $4,950 a month as well. It’s a 2-BR, 2-BA running to 974 square feet; and includes in-unit laundry and exposure on three sides (no parking, though).

↑ In Downtown Crossing, Unit 505 in the Millennium Place complex at 580 Washington Street is asking $5,000 a month even. It also has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, and is 1,166 square feet. Rent nabs the building’s amenities, including access to a luxurious concierge service—but it does not appear to command parking.

↑ We end out in Brighton, where one-half of a two-family house at 40 Kirkwood Road is asking $5,000/month. The 1,400-square-foot spread includes the potential for five bedrooms; and it has two bathrooms. There’s also a backyard and a porch. Parking does not appear to be included.
