Bowling alley closing

Criterion Development Partners

The Cambridge Planning Board has signed off on Criterion Development Partners’ plans to replace the Lanes & Games bowling alley and the Gateway Motel with a 320-unit apartment complex.

The six-story development long the Concord Turnpike just northwest of the Alewife area will include studios, 1-BRs, 2-BRs, and 3-BRs. The complex will also include 242 parking spaces and three dozen apartments designated as affordable.

Lanes and Games, a more than 40-year fixture in Cambridge, plans to close after this summer so as to give bowling leagues a chance to wrap their games.
