The average home price along the Boston Marathon’s route from Hopkinton to Boston has increased at least 649.73 percent since 1940, according to analysis from listings service Owners.com.
The analysis analyzed census data and adjusted for inflation. The second set of numbers is from the latest American Consumer Survey in 2015.
The appreciation over 75 years is not surprising, of course. What might strike people a bit are the differences between prices along the way—for instance, Newton’s $855,700 average vs. Boston’s $634,500.
