South Boston’s favorite public-private park, the Lawn on D, opens for a new season on May 1 with new attractions.
For one thing, the concessions operator for the 2.7-acre expanse across from the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center has a liquor license this year, so that means alcohol will be available in the park, including through a full-service bar.
The food menu will also be updated (food-and-drink service starts May 4).
The Lawn on D will also have new games for patrons to play: giant chess, lawn checkers, and—get this—a large version of Connect Four.
Finally, the park’s pavilion is now 2,400 square feet with the addition of 1,000 feet from a smoking area.
